Meteorology issues warning: Sleet is coming!

The General Directorate of Meteorology's latest assessments indicate that the northern and eastern parts of the country will be partly to very cloudy, with intermittent precipitation expected in the Eastern Black Sea region, the eastern part of Eastern Anatolia, and starting from the night hours, in Thrace and the western part of Çanakkale.

The precipitation, which is expected to generally manifest as rain and occasional thunderstorms, and as sleet and snow in the higher elevations of the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea and the northeastern parts of Eastern Anatolia, is expected to be locally heavy in the vicinities of Artvin, Hakkari, Edirne, and Kırklareli.

On the other hand, a yellow-coded warning has been issued for Ağrı, Artvin, Bitlis, Hakkari, Muş, Rize, Siirt, Trabzon, Van, and Şırnak.

HEAVY PRECIPITATION AND WIND WARNING

As the precipitation is expected to be locally heavy in the vicinities of Artvin and Hakkari, as well as in Edirne and Kırklareli during the night hours, it has been reported that one should be careful and take precautions against negative conditions such as flash floods, inundations, lightning strikes along the coasts, strong winds during precipitation, and disruptions in transportation.

The wind is expected to blow strongly (40-60 km/h) from southerly directions in the Marmara region during the night hours.

It is estimated that the weather will be slightly cloudy, becoming partly to very cloudy over time, with intermittent rain showers in Thrace and the western part of Çanakkale during the night hours. Precipitation is expected to be locally heavy in the vicinities of Edirne and Kırklareli.
