The Ministry of National Defense announced that 19 soldiers were affected by methane gas during a search conducted in a cave in northern Iraq, and five of them were martyred. As the painful news was delivered to the families of the martyrs, Turkish flags were hung at their homes and condolence visits began.

The news of the martyrdom of First Lieutenant Ege Akar, who lived in the Buca district of İzmir, was delivered to his family by officials. Turkish flags were hung at the residential complex where the family lives, and a condolence tent was set up. It was learned that the martyr's father was a retired non-commissioned officer and his mother was a retired civil servant from the military.

In Aksaray, the painful news was also delivered to the family of Infantry Contracted Private Özkan Özkanlı. While a Turkish flag was hung at the martyr's family home, his relatives and neighbors gathered to offer their condolences.

The news of the martyrdom was also delivered to the family of Ammunition Non-Commissioned Officer Senior Sergeant Abdurrahman Akdoğan, who lived in the Pütürge district of Malatya. The Governor of Malatya and the Metropolitan Mayor paid a condolence visit to the family.

In Kepsut, Balıkesir, the news of the martyrdom was conveyed to the family of Infantry Contracted Private Ahmet Kuşak. A Turkish flag was hung at the martyr's family home, and the District Governor of Kepsut offered his condolences to the family.
