MHP's Feti Yıldız announces Imrali decision before the commission even meets and issues a challenge: 'If there is anyone who does not want to send a deputy to the delegation...'

The National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission, established in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) as part of the government's second reconciliation process, which MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli architected and dubbed 'Terror-Free Turkey,' continues its work.

Before the commission's 17th meeting, Bahçeli stated that the commission should go to Imrali to meet with terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan, and announced that if the commission did not make such a decision, he would take three of his colleagues and go to Imrali himself.

A vote on the visit to Imrali will be held at the commission's meeting on Friday, November 21. The votes of 31 members are needed for the Imrali 'visa' to be approved by the commission.

While Bahçeli's Imrali remarks remain on the agenda, Feti Yıldız, MHP Deputy Chairman in charge of Legal and Election Affairs, made a striking statement on his social media account.

Pointing to the meeting the commission will hold on Friday, Yıldız claimed that a decision would be made to go to Imrali and noted that the delegation to be formed would meet with the terrorist leader within a few days.

Yıldız said, "If there is a political party that does not want to provide a deputy to the delegation, it should share this clearly and openly with the public." he said, issuing a challenge.

"The process that began with the historic speech delivered by our leader, Mr. Devlet Bahçeli,

at the parliamentary group meeting on October 22, 2024, and has reached this stage, is indisputably the most courageous 'founding politics' move of the century.

The phenomenon of terrorism is a multidimensional threat that deeply shakes the concepts of sovereignty, security, and social stability of modern states.

Especially in the post-Cold War era, the fragmented structure of the international system has paved the way for non-state armed actors to gain power; most of these actors act with ethnic, religious, or ideological motivations.

Today, the structure of terrorism has transformed from a classic hierarchical organizational model to a 'hybrid threat' model conducted through flexible and digital networks.

This model shows that terrorism encompasses not only physical actions but also psychological operations conducted through information systems, financial networks, and social media."

The Republic of Turkey has seized a historic opportunity on the path to a final solution to the terror problem, which has imposed heavy costs on the country's human, social, and economic resources for nearly half a century.

The roadmap is being completed stage by stage with great success.

Turkey's geopolitical position, located at the intersection of three continents, causes security risks to carry regional and global dimensions.

On the other hand,

Like democracy, the rule of law is not a static phenomenon that is built once and finished.

The changing social structure, emerging risks, and opportunities require the rule of law to be constantly reinforced and the system to be continuously reviewed.

This reality is a matter that should always be on the agenda of the political institution and the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), which is its largest and most authoritative body.

The process, which is called a "conflict resolution process" in the literature and which we describe as a "Terror-Free Turkey," a process unique to Turkey, has completed its first year.

It has covered in one year, with great calm and determination, the distance that its counterparts could only cover in 6-7 years.

The state's wisdom meticulously distinguishes between cyclical reactions and long-term strategic priorities.

It should not be forgotten that the process for a Turkey without terrorism is a process conducted without any ifs, buts, or conditions, and without any conjunctions, regarding the PKK terrorist organization's self-dissolution and surrender of weapons.

The fact that fundamental rights and freedoms are not subject to bargaining or negotiation, and that they inherently impose positive and negative obligations on the state, means that the state's recognition, development, and protection of these rights is the very reason for the state's existence.

On Friday, November 21, the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission will make a decision to visit Imrali Island.

Within a few days, a delegation consisting of one deputy from each party with a parliamentary group will go to the island to determine the statements of the terrorist organization's founder.

If there is a political party that does not want to provide a deputy to the delegation, it should share this clearly and openly with the public."
