Midnight attack from Russia on Ukraine

Russia launched intense drone (UAV) and ballistic missile attacks on various Ukrainian cities during the night. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced in a post on his social media account that Russia used 650 UAVs and more than 50 ballistic missiles in the attacks. In his statement, Zelenskyy said, "This was a complex and combined attack. Although a large portion of these elements were intercepted, unfortunately, there were hits in some locations."

CASUALTIES AND INJURIES IN ZAPORIZHZHIA

Zelenskyy reported that settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region were targeted as a result of the attacks and that a student dormitory was damaged. The Ukrainian leader announced that 2 people lost their lives in the attack. Zaporizhzhia Regional Governor Ivan Fedorov stated in his announcement that as of 08:20 local time, 13 people, including 6 children, had been injured.

MANY REGIONS TARGETED

Zelenskyy stated that in addition to Zaporizhzhia, civilian settlements and energy infrastructure were targeted in many regions, including Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Mykolaiv, Cherkasy, Poltava, Dnipro, Chernihiv, Sumy, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Lviv. The Ukrainian leader noted that the attacks caused fires in some regions and that emergency teams were quickly dispatched to the scenes. Zelenskyy also emphasized that efforts are ongoing.

"POWER OUTAGES EXPERIENCED ACROSS THE COUNTRY"

Ukrainian Minister of Energy Svitlana Grynchuk reported that the attacks caused serious damage to energy infrastructure across the country. Stating that there were interruptions in energy supply, Grynchuk said, "As a result of the attack, emergency power outages were implemented in various regions of Ukraine. Energy distribution will be restored once the security situation becomes favorable again."

In a statement made by the Ukrainian State Railways operator Ukrzaliznytsia, it was reported that power outages in the Mykolaiv region caused disruptions in train services. Officials announced that there were delays in some services and that backup locomotives were deployed.
