Million-lira theft at Büyükçekmece Courthouse... Red notice issued for fugitive suspect and his wife

 Within the scope of an investigation conducted by the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was determined that a staff member working at the courthouse stole jewelry worth millions of liras from the evidence safe. Following the incident, an international search was initiated for the suspect and his wife, who had fled.

MILLION-LIRA ROBBERY FROM THE EVIDENCE SAFE

Examinations conducted by the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office revealed that Erdal Timurtaş, a permanent employee at the courthouse, stole jewelry with a market value of millions of liras from the safes located in the Evidence Bureau. As a result of the counts, it was determined that approximately 25 kilograms of gold and 50 kilograms of silver were missing from the safes.

FUGITIVE SUSPECTS FLED TO ENGLAND

Security forces deepening the investigation determined that Erdal Timurtaş and his wife had fled to England through legal channels immediately after the theft. A large-scale search operation has been launched for the fugitive suspects.

RED NOTICE REQUEST

The Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office first issued an arrest warrant in absentia for the fugitive couple. Subsequently, they applied to the Ministry of Justice to have the suspects sought at an international level. The Ministry accepted the application and decided to issue a red notice for Erdal Timurtaş and his wife. Efforts to apprehend the suspects and bring them to Turkey are ongoing.
