Minced meat alarm before the holiday! There is a 42 thousand lira fine

As is the case every year, butchers are preparing for a busy schedule ahead of Eid al-Adha. However, experts emphasize that attention must be paid to hygiene conditions when grinding meat. Operations performed by mobile or unauthorized individuals, in particular, carry serious health risks.

MACHINES IN NEIGHBORHOODS INVITE DISEASE

Ali Manavoğlu, Head of the Antalya Branch of the Chamber of Food Engineers, pointed out that the machines used to grind sacrificial meat are often left in warehouses and basements for months, stating, "These machines are far from maintenance and disinfection. The meat is processed in the open, exposed to microorganisms."

Manavoğlu said, "Sacrificial meat should be processed in licensed butcher shops under hygienic conditions. Otherwise, serious problems may arise in terms of public health. Those who have meat ground in the streets endanger both their own health and public health," he added.

THOUSANDS OF LIRAS IN FINES FOR UNAUTHORIZED MEAT GRINDING

A fine of 21 thousand 6 TL is imposed on those who grind meat without authorization, and a fine of 42 thousand 76 TL is imposed on those who perform the process in unhygienic environments. Inspections are carried out by municipalities and relevant ministry teams. Citizens are also asked to report suspicious situations to the authorities.
