Miners in Ankara in resistance: Protest against privatization

Miners in Ankara in resistance: Protest against privatization

 Miners opposing the privatization of the Çayırhan Mine located in the Nallıhan district of Ankara are continuing the protest they began on Wednesday, November 20. 

The protest, which started when they locked themselves in the mine during the morning shift, moved above ground as of the 72nd hour. Despite cold weather conditions, the resistance continues with the participation of approximately 500 workers.

In the region where nighttime temperatures drop to minus 10 degrees, the workers' families are also supporting the protest. While a spirit of solidarity prevails in the protest area, the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality has also taken action to improve the conditions of the workers.

The municipality has provided tents, hot meals, and mobile toilets to the miners at the protest site. Providing various aid materials to improve health conditions, the municipality continues its efforts to ensure that the workers' resistance continues in a healthy environment and in solidarity.
