Minimum wage earner's salary melted before it even hit their pocket: 'This is a cost-of-living disaster'

CHP Mersin Deputy Gülcan Kış emphasized in a written statement that economic data is sounding the alarm. Stating that according to BRSA data, the credit volume has risen to 25.5 trillion liras in one year, while the amount of non-performing loans has reached 703 billion liras, Kış said that minimum wage earners and retirees begin worrying about their debts before they even receive their salaries. Noting that Turkey's real agenda is the fire in the kitchen, Kış said, "This picture is not just an economic crisis; it is a direct cost-of-living disaster."

FARMERS AND LOW-INCOME EARNERS ARE THE VICTIMS OF THE ECONOMIC ORDER

Arguing that the 6.4 billion dollars in agricultural imports made in the first three months of the year represent a "strategic collapse" for Turkey, Kış stated that domestic producers have been brought to the point of ruin. She harshly criticized the fact that Turkey, a citrus hub, imports oranges from Iran; wheat from Russia and Ukraine, which are in the middle of a war; and tea from Sri Lanka and Kenya, despite being called a tea-producing country. Stating that Çukurova has lost its cotton and has been left dependent on the USA and Brazil, Kış noted that farmers cannot harvest their crops because they cannot cover their costs, while consumers are being crushed under exorbitant prices at the market.
