Minimum wage statement from AKP's Şamil Tayyar

The deadlock regarding the minimum wage hike, which directly concerns 7 million employees and indirectly affects the entire society, is expected to be resolved next week.

The fact that no figure emerged from the Minimum Wage Determination Commission, which met three times on December 10, 16, and 19, has caused public backlash.

Following the reactions, TÜRK-İŞ, which represents workers in the commission, announced that they would not sign off on any figure below 29 thousand 583 liras.

AKP's Şamil Tayyar made a noteworthy post on his social media account regarding the minimum wage hike.

Drawing attention to retiree and civil servant salaries in addition to the minimum wage, Tayyar emphasized that the figures considered by the economic management do not align with the figures expected by society, saying, "We are at the final threshold."

Pointing to AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Tayyar stated, "I believe everyone is looking toward our President's conscientious welfare share. I hope there will be an increase that will give society a bit of breathing room."

Undoubtedly, it is very important to place the economy on a realistic foundation, but the destruction caused by the poverty that has deepened in recent years is not sustainable. The social aspect of economic policies must be strengthened. I do not find the claim that it will increase inflation to be realistic. Markets are already crazily pricing in every difficulty they experience. They have already started to arbitrarily reflect the price hikes of the new year onto labels.

The real problem triggering inflation is the arbitrariness and lack of supervision in pricing. Because there is no price measure left in the markets. In colloquial terms, the real threat is price terror."
