Minister Fidan calls for 'previous mistakes not to be repeated': Critical meeting with Blinken

In a statement made by Foreign Ministry sources, the following expressions were used regarding the meeting:

"The latest developments in Syria were evaluated during the meeting.

Minister Fidan touched upon the importance of not repeating previous mistakes and noted that at this point, the regime must act realistically, establish a dialogue with the opposition, and initiate a political process.

He underlined that all actors in the region should play a constructive role in this direction.

Minister Fidan stated that terrorist organizations such as the PKK and ISIS must not be allowed to exploit the chaotic environment in Syria.

Minister Fidan also expressed that it would be beneficial to take necessary measures to ensure that the chemical weapons possessed by the regime do not turn into a risk for the region.

Reminding of the importance of humanitarian aid reaching the region, Minister Fidan stated that Turkey is providing the necessary support in this regard."
