Minister Işıkhan announces: 30,000 appointments allocated for cleaning staff in schools

Following the start of the academic year, the issue of cleanliness in schools has come to the fore.

It was reported that due to the shortage of cleaning staff, school administrations have requested financial support from parents to hire personnel.

It had emerged that in some schools, parents were taking turns cleaning the school and classrooms.

Taking action, the Ministry of National Education announced last week that 30,000 cleaning staff would be hired.

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan announced today that 30,000 cleaning staff appointments have been allocated to schools.

Işıkhan stated that they are also working on increasing the wages.

HOW MUCH DO CLEANING STAFF EARN?

Cleaning staff in schools were receiving the minimum wage, which was 17,000 liras last year. This term, the system has changed.

It was decided that the personnel would be provided through the Labor Force Adaptation Program under İŞKUR. A working period of three days a week and a maximum of 22.5 hours was stipulated.

When the wage was set at 8,447 liras per month, sufficient personnel could not be found.
