Minister Şimşek announced: Large taxpayers reporting losses are under investigation!
Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek made striking statements at a program he attended in Istanbul. He said, "There are measures to ensure a fair distribution of the tax burden. We have prioritized the inspection of large taxpayers and those who have been reporting losses for years."
Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek spoke at the "MÜSİAD 2024 Evaluation and 2025 Expectations" meeting.
Stating that there are measures to ensure a fair distribution of the tax burden and noting that aging is also accelerating, Minister Şimşek said, "In 2025, our priorities will be large taxpayer inspections, sectoral field audits, and taxpayers whose profitability remains below sectoral rates."
Highlights from Minister Şimşek's statements are as follows:
"We aim to make disinflation felt in 2025 as well. Since the current account deficit has fallen, the need for external financing has decreased. The new trade policies of the US could have a major impact on us as well, because China's exports will change routes.
As long as we continue to implement this program, our credit rating will continue to rise. Budget discipline is important; we had to take measures last year. I understand that no one wants high taxes, but if we had not taken those measures, the consequences would have been more severe.
We limited the budget deficit to 5.2 percent last year. Monetary policy and fiscal policy have their limits, which is why we are prioritizing production and exports.
There are measures to ensure a fair distribution of the tax burden. We have prioritized the inspection of large taxpayers and those who have been reporting losses for years.
In 2025, our priorities will be large taxpayer inspections, sectoral field audits, and taxpayers whose profitability remains below sectoral rates.
We have reduced the number of rental vehicles in the public sector by 16 percent. Turkey's gross external financing need is decreasing.
Our goal in 2025 is for disinflation to be more palpable and for structural transformation to accelerate. We will continue to maintain budget discipline."
