Minister Tekin on teacher Irmak: 'Our inspection board has initiated the process'

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin has made important statements regarding the suspicious death of preschool teacher Irmak Ayşe Koparan, who was working in Ağrı, and the allegations that have emerged since. Minister Tekin announced that the Inspection Board has initiated the necessary investigations in coordination with both judicial authorities and law enforcement agencies regarding the incident.

THE DEATH OF A YOUNG TEACHER ON THE PARLIAMENTARY AGENDA

Responding to questions from parliamentary correspondents before the AK Party TBMM Group Meeting, the sad news from Ağrı was on the agenda of Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin. The death of 28-year-old contract preschool teacher Irmak Ayşe Koparan, who was found dead in her home in the Hamur district, and the allegations raised following her death have been taken under the ministry's follow-up.

In the incident, where the possibility of suicide is being focused on according to initial findings, the exact cause of the young teacher's death will become clear following an autopsy.

"WE PREFER TO SPEAK CAUTIOUSLY"

When asked about the allegations of mobbing and violence voiced after the death, which caused great sadness in the public, Minister Tekin pointed out that definitive judgments should not be made before the official process is completed. Tekin used the following expressions regarding the subject:

"We must act without relying on comments made by newspapers and people who do not know the details of the matter. Ultimately, with every word we say, we may be violating a fundamental right and freedom, or staining innocent people. That is why, as the Ministry of National Education, we prefer to speak cautiously." 

"IF THERE IS ANYONE NEGLIGENT, NO ONE WILL BE SPARED"

Emphasizing that the ministry's most fundamental duty is to protect the rights and safety of education workers, Minister Tekin stated that whatever the result of the investigation, the necessary actions will be taken against anyone found at fault. Tekin concluded his statements with these words:

"Our concern and our job is to protect the rights of our teacher colleagues and to ensure they work in a safe, healthy, and peaceful environment. We will take all measures to ensure this. If there is a colleague of ours who has been negligent there, regardless of who they are, the necessary action will be taken without hesitation." 

Both the investigation conducted by judicial authorities and the administrative inquiry initiated by the Ministry of National Education Inspection Board regarding the incident are continuing in a multi-faceted manner.
