Minister Tunç announces: Detention orders issued for many in cable car accident
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced that detention orders have been issued for 13 suspects in connection with the cable car accident in Antalya.
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced that the facility involved in the cable car accident in Antalya did not have an emergency action and evacuation plan in place.
Tunç stated that detention orders have been issued for 13 suspects, including those responsible and employees from both the company operating the line and the company responsible for its maintenance and repair.
In a post on his social media account, Tunç recalled that an expert committee of 5 people was formed under the coordination of 1 Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor and 1 Public Prosecutor, stating, "While rescue efforts for our citizens stranded in the cabins were ongoing, the committee conducted a detailed crime scene investigation and inspection.
In the preliminary report prepared by the expert committee, it is assessed that the support pylon broke at its connection point due to the insufficiency/corrosion of the connection elements located at the connection points of the cable car's support pylons and the damage to the pulley systems located on the support pylons," he noted.
Stating in his post that it was determined that the relevant facility did not have an emergency action and evacuation plan, Tunç shared the information that, "Detention orders have been issued for 13 suspects, including those responsible and employees from the company operating the aforementioned cable car line and the company responsible for the maintenance and repair of the cable car line."
