Minister Yerlikaya announces: 18 detained in illegal betting operation

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared the details of the Mengene-2 Operations conducted against illegal betting crimes via his X account. 

Yerlikaya stated the following in his announcement:

"In the 'Mengene-2 Operation' carried out simultaneously across the country against Gambling, Bingo, Gaming Machines, and Illegal Betting crimes, 18 people were detained, judicial proceedings were initiated against 124 individuals, and administrative proceedings were initiated against 163 people!

In the Mengene-2 Operation, conducted against 'Gambling, Bingo, Gaming Machines, and Illegal Betting' crimes under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security's Departments of Public Order and Cybercrime Combat, along with the Coast Guard and Gendarmerie General Commands, with the participation of 8,771 teams and 27,328 personnel; regarding the illegal betting application, judicial proceedings were initiated against 25 individuals for facilitating illegal betting in 4 workplaces where illegal betting was conducted. Administrative proceedings were initiated against 59 individuals for participating in illegal betting, and fines totaling 232,767 TL were imposed.

In the Gambling, Bingo, and Gaming Machines application conducted in 12,683 workplaces, marine vessels, and 262 associations; 18 individuals were detained, judicial proceedings were initiated against 99 individuals, administrative proceedings were initiated against 104 individuals with fines totaling 1,114,093 TL imposed, administrative action was taken against 95 public workplaces, and 8 workplaces were shut down.

Furthermore, in the Mengene-2 Operation; 4 shotguns, 10 unlicensed pistols, 5 blank-firing pistols, 2 bingo machines, 4 gambling/gaming machines, 67,675 TL in cash, various amounts of foreign currency, various amounts of heroin, cannabis, bonzai, methamphetamine, narcotic pills, contraband cigarettes, and a large number of illegal betting coupons and materials for gambling were seized."
