Minister Yerlikaya announces illegal betting operation: Administrative action taken against 517 people, judicial action against 118

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared the details of the operation conducted regarding illegal betting crimes on his social media account. 

Minister Yerlikaya stated the following:

"Under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security's Departments of Public Order and Cybercrime Combat, as well as the Gendarmerie General Command and the Coast Guard Command, during the 'Mengene' operation targeting 'Gambling, Bingo, Gaming Machines, and Illegal Betting' crimes,

33 suspects who were facilitating gambling, bingo, gaming machines, and illegal BETTING were detained. Administrative action was taken against 517 individuals for the crimes of gambling, bingo, using gaming machines, and participating in illegal betting, resulting in fines totaling 2,330,479 TL. Judicial action was taken against 118 individuals. 650 people with outstanding arrest warrants were also apprehended.

During the operation, 13 workplaces where illegal betting and gambling were taking place were shut down, and 10 gambling/gaming machines, 4 bingo machines, 12 unlicensed pistols, 4 shotguns, 5 blank-firing pistols, and various amounts of cannabis, bonzai, methamphetamine, narcotic pills, and a large number of illegal betting slips were seized."
