Minister Yerlikaya announces the number of Syrians who have returned to their country

Speaking at the 12th anniversary of the Presidency of Migration Management, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said, "Since December 9, 2024, 175 thousand 512 of our Syrian brothers and sisters have returned to their country in a 'voluntary, safe, dignified, and orderly' manner." The number of foreigners in Turkey was announced as 4 million 43 thousand 215.

Yerlikaya stated that with Syria gaining its freedom, "voluntary, safe, dignified, and orderly returns" have gained momentum, and said the following:

"Since December 9, 2024, 175 thousand 512 of our Syrian brothers and sisters have returned to their country in a 'voluntary, safe, dignified, and orderly' manner. This means a total of 33 thousand 730 families. Between 2017 and 2025, the number of Syrians who returned to Syria in a 'voluntary, safe, dignified, and orderly' manner reached 915 thousand 515."

In a statement made on his social media account, Minister Yerlikaya also stated that there are 4 million 43 thousand 215 foreigners in Turkey.

It was recorded that there are 4 million 43 thousand 215 foreigners in Turkey, consisting of 2 million 782 thousand 733 Syrians under temporary protection, 1 million 82 thousand 83 foreigners with residence permits, and 178 thousand 399 foreigners under international protection.
