Minister Yerlikaya reacts to investigation claims: 'A vile lie'

Minister Yerlikaya, in a statement on his social media account, said: "Claims that an investigation has been opened regarding the manner in which the attacker who martyred our police officer daughter Şeyda Yılmaz was transported from the police station to the courthouse are a vile lie.

No investigation has been opened on this matter by our Ministry of Interior, our General Directorate of Security, or our Governorship.

Necessary legal proceedings have been initiated against those who spread these false reports," he stated.

WHAT HAPPENED

Yunus Emre G. (19), who was taken into custody at the Dudullu Police Station regarding a motorcycle theft and was learned to have 26 separate criminal records, had escaped from the station. Police officers K.H.S. and Şeyda Yılmaz, who were on duty at the station, had pursued the suspect to apprehend him.

While the suspect Yunus Emre G. was apprehended after a short chase, a scuffle broke out during the process.

Police officer Şeyda Yılmaz was martyred after the suspect seized a police officer's weapon and fired into the surroundings. In the incident, police officer K.H.S. and the suspect's mother, P.G. (43), were injured.
