Minister Yerlikaya shares details of the cable car disaster with figures

One citizen lost their life in the cable car disaster that occurred in the Konyaaltı district of Antalya.

While efforts to rescue citizens stranded in the cable cars continue, Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya shared details about the disaster on his social media account.

Yerlikaya described the process moment by moment.

Today, as a result of one of the poles carrying the Sarısu-Tünektepe cable car line in the Konyaaltı district of Antalya collapsing, one of the cabins fell into a rocky area; unfortunately, 1 of our citizens in the cable car lost their life, and 7 people were injured.

While AFAD and the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality fire department teams are conducting rescue operations, our Coast Guard helicopter has evacuated 5 people stranded in the cabin; evacuation efforts for 2 injured individuals are ongoing.

A Gendarmerie helicopter with night flight capability took off from Aydın at 20:00 to arrive in the region for the evacuation of a total of 184 people located in 25 cabins.

Our Search and Rescue Department Head has departed for the region by helicopter with a 20-person mountaineering team to coordinate the efforts in Antalya.

The incident is being responded to by a total of 110 personnel, including the Antalya Provincial AFAD, Fire Department, 112 Health, UMKE, Police, and 2 Coast Guard helicopters.

Additionally, a 30-person professional mountaineering team from Bursa Provincial AFAD and JAK;

And a 25-person mountaineering team from Erzurum Provincial AFAD and JAK are being dispatched to the region by air.

I wish God's mercy upon our citizen who lost their life and a speedy recovery to the injured.
