Ministry appeals release of sexual abusers

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Family and Social Services, it was stated: "Under the instructions of Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, Ministry lawyers have requested that the two suspects be tried while in custody, arguing that the suspects' defense that 'the victim appeared to be older than 12' does not align with the contents of the case file and is an attempt to evade criminal liability."

The suspects, who admitted to the allegations of sexual abuse against the 12-year-old girl during their statements at the police station, denied the allegations at the public prosecutor's office.

Following their interrogation by the prosecutor, the two suspects, for whom an arrest warrant was requested on charges of 'qualified sexual abuse,' were released under judicial control by the court they were brought before.

The Ministry of Family and Social Services, which appealed the court's decision to release the suspects under 'judicial control,' will intervene in the case in favor of the victimized girl.

The 12-year-old girl who is the subject of the news reports was taken under state protection by the Ministry of Family and Social Services in recent days."
