Ministry of Health responds to claims regarding assistant quotas: Statement on foreign student quotas

In a statement made on its social media account, the Ministry of Health said, "A statement has become necessary following claims shared on some social media accounts that 'the Ministry of Health has halved the number of quotas allocated to assistants this year, causing grievances for our future colleagues.' In accordance with Article 14 of the Regulation on Specialty Training in Medicine and Dentistry, numbered 31942, quotas for foreign students are opened at a rate not exceeding 10 percent of the total quotas opened for Turkish students."

'FOREIGN STUDENT QUOTA REDUCED BY 21 PERCENT IN 2024'

In the statement made by the Ministry, it was announced that when compared to 2023, there was an actual reduction of 21 percent in the total foreign student quota in 2024, and the following expressions were used:

"The majority of the students given quotas are our Turkish kin. As the Ministry of Health, we will of course fight against the disinformation and slander campaigns carried out to shake the trust in our institutions.

Our request from our citizens is not to take into account baseless slanders. It should be seen how desperate the slanderers are to smear our Ministry, and it should be known that it is a bitter reality that they are trying to play with the dreams of our future colleagues. We will continue to work with all our might, day and night, to carry our health system further and to the best."
