EXPLANATION REGARDING INCREASED COMPLAINTS

According to the statement made by the Ministry, due to recent complaints regarding the presence of stray animals at the entrances and in the gardens of healthcare facilities, the General Directorate of Public Health has sent a letter titled "Measures to be Taken Regarding Stray Animals in Healthcare Facilities" to governorships, provincial health directorates, and provincial directorates of agriculture and forestry in all cities.

The letter stated that there have been reports of an increase in stray animals at the entrances and in the gardens of healthcare facilities, emphasizing that the Ministry has received numerous complaints on this matter and that this situation has become a threat to the health of citizens seeking services at these facilities.

EMPHASIS ON HYGIENE AND SAFETY

The letter stated that stray animals, particularly dogs, not only cause physical injuries to humans but also pose risks in terms of zoonotic diseases and hygiene. It was noted that the presence of stray animals in healthcare facilities and on their campuses negatively affects both citizens' access to health services and the delivery of services by healthcare workers, thereby posing a serious threat to public health.

The letter also included the measures to be taken to prevent the problem, requesting that, under the coordination of governorships and in cooperation with local governments and relevant institutions, necessary measures be taken regarding stray animals, especially dogs, in healthcare facilities and their campuses within the framework of legal regulations and current legislation.

ANIMALS ON CAMPUSES WILL BE REMOVED

The letter stated that necessary physical precautions will be completed immediately by the administrators responsible for the administrative operations of healthcare facilities and their campuses, and that field inspections will be conducted regularly. It was noted that stray animals entering healthcare facilities and their campuses will be removed from the premises, and that an effective coordination mechanism will be established between healthcare facility administrators and local governments for all these actions.
