Ministry of Health statement regarding claims that a 'deceased citizen was discharged'

It was alleged that a citizen who passed away at a private hospital in Aydın had been discharged.

The Ministry of Health issued a statement on the matter. The Ministry stated that the Aydın Provincial Health Directorate has initiated extraordinary inspections regarding this issue and that it felt the need to inform the public about the process.

In a post made on the Ministry's "Sağlıklı Çözüm" (Healthy Solution) social media account, it was stated that following reports that a deceased citizen was discharged from a private hospital in Aydın, it was necessary to inform citizens about the extraordinary inspection process conducted by the Aydın Provincial Health Directorate.

It was stated that records show the patient, who had been receiving treatment in the level 2 intensive care unit at the hospital in question since January 30, no longer required oxygen support as of February 6, and was therefore discharged as of 10:35 on February 7.

The statement noted the following:

"It is understood from camera footage that the patient, who was waiting at the emergency room entrance in a wheelchair, fell ill while under the supervision of emergency room staff and the patient's relatives, and was subsequently taken to the red zone. It has been determined from hospital records that the patient was intubated and received intervention for 40-45 minutes, and that the patient's death was recorded at 11:40. The investigation being conducted by our provincial health directorate regarding the matter is ongoing, and necessary updates regarding the process will be provided."
