Ministry of Trade issues 'exorbitant price' warning ahead of holiday
The Ministry of Trade has announced that inspection activities regarding exorbitant prices will be increased and effectively continued during the final days of Ramadan and throughout the Ramadan Feast.
The Ministry of Trade issued a statement providing information regarding inspection activities carried out just days before the Ramadan Feast.
The statement, which also included a warning regarding exorbitant prices, contained the following remarks:
"In order to ensure our citizens do not suffer grievances and to protect their rights and interests, we will increase and effectively continue the intensive inspection activities we have maintained throughout the month of Ramadan during the final days of the month and throughout the Ramadan Feast."
"In this context, shopping malls, retail businesses selling food and holiday products, and all grocery stores will continue to be under our close surveillance. Within this framework, we would like to reiterate that our citizens can report any exorbitant price increases they witness to our Ministry's call center and our Ministry's website," the statement read.
The statement underscored that businesses must show the necessary sensitivity in complying with regulations and not causing grievances for citizens, adding, "Otherwise, we would like to state that our Ministry will continue to impose the necessary sanctions against any attempt that causes grievances for our citizens, just as we have done in the past."
