In a statement issued by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism regarding the allegations raised on social media and websites concerning the fairy tale book titled 'Onlar Ermiş Muradına', it was stated: "Determining matters that constitute a crime in works published in our country and applying any criminal sanctions against them is not legally the responsibility of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The International Standard Book Number (ISBN) issued by our Ministry is not a mandatory practice, and the purpose of this practice is to standardize work numbers using an international method and to identify the identity of the material. The purpose of banderole procedures is to ensure the tracking of the rights of works and rights holders and to combat intellectual property rights violations.

The allocation of ISBNs and banderoles, carried out directly by the relevant units of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism or under their coordination, are procedures performed before the publication of a work and have no relation to the content of the work.

In this context, they absolutely do not mean that the content is approved. Crimes committed through printed works are pursued in accordance with the Press Law No. 5187. The process of seizure, distribution, and sales bans can only be carried out by the decision of the relevant courts based on an investigation and prosecution initiated by the Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor.

In summary, decisions on banning and seizure are made by judicial authorities, and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has no authority to inspect the content of books before or after their publication, or to make decisions regarding banning, seizure, or recall," it was stated.
