Missing motorcyclist found dead in irrigation canal in Edirne
A dispute between the wife and mother of a father of two, who was found dead in an irrigation canal in Edirne this morning, turned into a physical altercation at the scene. Security and rescue teams struggled to separate the family members. An investigation is ongoing.
The lifeless body of 31-year-old Öner Tütüniçmez, who set off on his motorcycle from the center of Edirne to the village of Elçili yesterday evening and had not been heard from throughout the night, was found this morning in an irrigation canal near the village of Üyüklütatar.
Upon receiving the tragic news, Tütüniçmez's family rushed to the scene and arrived at the body in tears. However, a verbal argument broke out between the young man's wife and his mother regarding responsibility for the accident. The tension escalated following mutual accusations and quickly turned into a physical altercation.
The family members, who suffered nervous breakdowns after the fight was brought under control by the intervention of gendarmerie and fire department teams, were removed from the area. Tütüniçmez's body was transported to the hospital morgue following initial examinations.
Authorities stated that the investigation into the incident is ongoing and that the exact cause and details of the accident are being researched.
