A "Money Laundering" center has been established under the administration of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. A Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor has been appointed to head the bureau, and four prosecutors have been assigned to work there.
According to a report by Halk TV, while crimes related to the laundering of black money obtained through drug and gang-related activities were previously investigated within the bureau for terrorism and organized crime, a separate, independent bureau will now provide these services.
Cases involving various domestic organized crime leaders, most notably Orhan Ünğan, known as "Ghost Orhan," as well as international drug barons, will be consolidated under this bureau.
