Mother and 2 children had died: New directive from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the poisoning tragedy in Ortaköy

The Böcek family, who came to Istanbul from Germany for a vacation and were staying in Fatih, were hospitalized on suspicion of poisoning after experiencing health problems. However, despite all interventions, 6-year-old Kadir Muhammet Böcek, 3-year-old Masal Böcek, and their mother Çiğdem Böcek lost their lives. The father, Servet Böcek, was taken into intensive care for treatment.

RESTAURANT SEALED, 3 OTHER BUSINESSES PURSUED

While the restaurant in Ortaköy where the family ate was sealed by teams, proceedings were also initiated against 3 businesses from which the Böcek family was determined to have purchased food from different locations. As part of the investigation, 4 people were detained, including street mussel vendor Yusuf D., restaurant owner Ercan E., and Fatih T., the owner of a Turkish delight business in Beyazıt.

EXAMINATION OF SAMPLES CONTINUES

Experts from the Council of Forensic Medicine and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry are continuing their detailed analysis of samples taken from various foods such as mussels, chicken tantuni, sausage sandwiches, lentil soup, and kokoreç.

INVESTIGATION EXPANDED DUE TO LACK OF CLEAR FINDINGS

According to information reported by Sabah, doctors' work on blood cultures taken from family members is also ongoing. Since no definitive data clearly pointing to poisoning could be reached in the initial assessments, the prosecutor's office expanded the file. The possibility of whether there was another external factor in the deaths has begun to be investigated.

MURDER AND SUICIDE POSSIBILITIES ON THE TABLE

The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office sent a directive to the Homicide Bureau of the Public Security Branch Directorate to clarify all aspects of the process, requesting that the incident be examined within the framework of criminal possibilities such as murder and suicide.
