Motorcyclist who caused the death of Engin Çağlar released
Berkay Orhan, who caused the death of Yeşilçam actor Engin Çağlar in a motorcycle accident, was placed under house arrest during the first hearing at the Istanbul 41st Criminal Court of First Instance.
The Istanbul 41st Criminal Court of First Instance has reached a verdict in the case opened following the death of Engin Çağlar, a well-known actor of Yeşilçam, in a motorcycle accident. The court ruled to end the detention of the motorcyclist Berkay Orhan, who caused the accident, and placed him under house arrest.
HEARING AND DEFENDANT'S DEFENSE
During the first session of the hearing, it was learned that the detained defendant Orhan stated that the accident was not intentional and occurred entirely as a result of negligence. Orhan's lawyer argued that his client was innocent and requested his release.
COURT DECISION
While the court decided to impose house arrest on Orhan as a judicial control measure, it also took into account the status of the evidence in the file and the defendant's conduct while in detention. The court decided that the defendant's status would be re-evaluated in subsequent hearings.
