Move from DEM Party, which met with Öcalan, toward 'Erdoğan and Bahçeli'

Following the call from MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, DEM Party members Sırrı Süreyya Önder and Pervin Buldan went to İmralı on December 28 and held a meeting with terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan.

DEM PARTY TO BEGIN İMRALI TOUR

While the repercussions of the meeting continue, it has been learned that the DEM Party delegation, consisting of Önder and Buldan, will begin meeting with political party leaders starting this week. According to a report by Hilal Köylü from Serbestiyet, Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Türk, who was replaced by a government-appointed trustee, will also be part of the DEM Party delegation. 

ERDOĞAN AND BAHÇELİ EXPECTED TO RESPOND POSITIVELY

On the other hand, it has been learned that the delegation will request appointments from AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and MHP leader Bahçeli, and that Erdoğan and Bahçeli are expected to respond positively to this request. It is stated that if Erdoğan's schedule does not permit, one of the AKP deputy chairmen may attend the meeting with the DEM delegation instead. 

The party leaders the DEM delegation is expected to meet with in the first phase are CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli. The delegation will also meet with Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş.

During the meetings, while evaluations will be made based on the 7-point message from Öcalan shared with the public on December 29, it is expected that views and suggestions will be shared regarding the acceleration of the process, with an emphasis on “Turkish-Kurdish brotherhood” and the responsibilities falling upon political party leaders and the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

Terrorist leader Öcalan's message, “Strengthening Turkish-Kurdish brotherhood again is not only a historical responsibility but has also gained a fate-determining importance and urgency for all peoples,” was the first item in the 7-point message. MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, who evaluated the DEM Party delegation's meeting with Öcalan in İmralı in his New Year's message, emphasized that there was no new resolution process, but described the meeting as “the momentum of a promising beginning.” Bahçeli had said, “The transition from words to action must follow; ultimately, positive and concrete results must be staged, performed, and announced step by step.”
