Naci Görür reveals which IMM mayoral candidate he will vote for in local elections

Speaking about the expected earthquake in Istanbul during the program, Görür stated that a city resilient to earthquakes must be built, noting that the magnitude of the expected earthquake in Istanbul could be between 7.2 and 7.6.

“IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO PREPARE FOR AN EARTHQUAKE”

Stating that it is known where Istanbul is vulnerable, what our weak points are, and which regions are at risk, Görür said, “I hope the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor will do what is necessary to prepare the city for an earthquake. These requirements include the city's components.” 

“A city is not prepared for an earthquake at random. When many of today's politicians talk about preparing Istanbul for an earthquake, the first thing that comes to their minds is the building stock. There are reasons for this focus on building stock. Construction is happening, beautiful buildings are being built. The public is happy, the contractor is happy, the mayor is happy. Of course, it is good to renew the city's building stock for earthquake resilience. It reduces damage. But it is not possible to prepare Istanbul for an earthquake solely through building stock,” he stated.

OFFERED CONSULTANCY TO BOTH GOVERNMENT AND OPPOSITION

Stating that both the government and the opposition have made offers to him, Prof. Dr. Naci Görür said, “Almost all mayoral candidates have met with me. This includes those from the opposition, the main opposition, and the ruling party. Some offered consultancy, some proposed working together. I am a scientist. Therefore, I have an obligation to remain above politics. My voice needs to reach everyone.”

“I WILL VOTE FOR WHOEVER PROMISES ECONOMIC SUPPORT”

Responding to the question, “Which mayoral candidate will you vote for?” during the program, Görür said, “If they say, ‘I will provide economic support’ for the strengthening and reconstruction of houses, I will vote for them, whoever they may be.”
