Narin Güran’s preliminary autopsy completed: Left leg severed below the knee, lesions found on neck

8-year-old Narin Güran went missing on August 21 after leaving a Quran course in the rural Tavşantepe neighborhood of Diyarbakır's Bağlar district.

The tragic news regarding the missing Narin came 19 days later.

The body of 8-year-old Narin Güran was found 19 days later in the Eğertutmaz Stream, an area that had been searched previously, inside a sack and covered with stones and tree branches.

As part of the investigation, 24 people have been detained, including Narin's mother Yüksel Güran, her father Arif Güran, two older brothers, three uncles, and the wife of her uncle Salim Güran, the village headman who was arrested on September 2 for 'intentional homicide'.

A 14-member expert committee participated in the autopsy at the Diyarbakır Forensic Medicine Institute, where Narin's body was taken. Journalist İsmail Saymaz shared new details regarding the autopsy, which lasted approximately 11 hours.

Saymaz reported that it was not possible to determine the time of death due to decomposition.

"91 samples were taken from every part of the body to uncover any crime, including abuse," said Saymaz, providing the following information:

"Narin’s preliminary autopsy is finished. Her left leg was found to be severed below the knee; the shinbone was found inside the sack. Decomposition has begun on the body. There are no visible injuries from a sharp object or a firearm. There is no internal bleeding. It was not possible to determine the time of death due to decomposition. The exact cause of death will be determined after further examinations. 91 samples were taken from every part of the body to uncover any crime, including abuse. The leg bone will be sent to the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institute; the cause of the severance can only be determined there. The report stated that 'it is not possible to make a concrete statement as serious decomposition has begun'."

Diyarbakır Bar Association President Nahit Eren, who made a statement in the evening in front of the Diyarbakır Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) where Narin's body was taken for autopsy, had also provided information stating, "Narin's slippers, bag, and Elif Ba (Quran primer) were found in the sack she was placed in. The body has deformed, and the cause of death has not yet been clarified."

CNN Türk Istanbul News Manager Nihat Uludağ had stated, "There are lesions on her throat. There is a high probability of signs of body relocation."
