National Defense Minister Yaşar Güler meets with families of martyrs and comments on the new resolution process

National Defense Minister Yaşar Güler met with families of martyrs and veterans at an iftar dinner.

In his speech there, Güler pointed out that the families of martyrs and veterans have shown great sacrifices for the homeland that cannot be described in words, stating: "You have never lost your fortitude in the face of the pain you have experienced, you have never compromised your dignified stance, and you have once again shown the discernment of our nation to both friend and foe. You are the crown jewel of the Turkish nation and the unique trust of the spiritual architects of the Republic of Turkey. Our state and the great Turkish nation are grateful to you."

Güler noted the following regarding the new resolution process, which was architected by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli and continues with the call for the terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan to lay down arms:

"It is now an inevitable reality that the terrorist organization, having received the instruction to lay down arms, must do what is necessary as soon as possible. The terrorist organization PKK and all its extensions operating in different geographies or under different names, regardless of where they are, must take the decision to dissolve immediately and surrender their weapons unconditionally. Any statement or action to the contrary has no validity."

Stating that they are following the process cautiously and prudently, Güler continued:

"We will not allow the PKK and its extensions to take advantage of current developments to restructure, compensate for their heavy losses, or disrupt and sabotage this positive process. Under the leadership of our President, we will continue to fulfill all our responsibilities to achieve our goal of a Turkey without terrorism. We will firmly uphold the efforts put forth by our heroes and will never allow even a fraction of their labor to be lost. Likewise, we will always stand by our martyrs and veterans, who bear the main burden of the prices we have paid, and their esteemed families."
