Natural gas pipeline punctured in Kocaeli: Heavy leak occurred
A natural gas pipeline was damaged during excavation work at a construction site in the İlimtepe neighborhood of Kocaeli's Körfez district. The construction machinery performing the excavation punctured the pipeline, causing a heavy gas leak.
Following the leak, gendarmerie, fire department, İzgaz, and medical teams were dispatched to the area. Workers at the construction site were evacuated from the scene after safety measures were taken. Teams established extensive security perimeters in the vicinity and restricted access to the area.
The gas escaping from the damaged pipeline posed a serious danger in the region. The incident caused a loud noise. Authorities stated that citizens must comply with safety precautions.
