Necati Özkan's comment: 'A government of at least 20 years is coming': 'The People's Alliance is helping for a stronger CHP government'

Necati Özkan, the former advisor to CHP's detained presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, answered Ruşen Çakır's questions from the prison where he is being held.

Özkan, who is detained on espionage charges, stated that he did not see any concrete evidence in the file regarding Hüseyin Gün, who is defined as a "spy" in the indictment, and that he gained the impression that the relationships were shaped more within the framework of commercial activities. He also stated that the only remarkable statement in the file emerged in the context of an inheritance dispute, and that he did not encounter any other findings supporting the espionage allegation.

He expressed this assessment with the following words:

"Although the indictment describes Hüseyin Gün as a spy, he has neither a confession in this regard, nor is there a single piece of evidence that he committed espionage. He appears to have worked with former politicians, current politicians, former soldiers, bureaucrats, and retired intelligence officers. But all these relationships appear to be commercial and profit-oriented. I have not encountered any evidence in the file content to prove otherwise, except for the statement of the son of Seher Erçili, whom he calls his 'spiritual mother.' There is also an inheritance sharing issue there, as far as I understand; that person thinks Hüseyin Gün has seized his mother's money. Of course, I don't know if there is any document or information that has not been put into the file... But the profile in the file is like this. An ambitious businessman profile. He is attacking many areas."

Explaining his own relationship, Özkan stated that the contact was established through a commercial venture during the election process, but that he cut off communication after finding the nature of the project inadequate.

He explained this situation as follows:

"Hüseyin Gün's relationship with me was also a relationship he established with the intention of taking a position and then making money 11-12 days before the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality mayoral election, which was held for the second time on June 23, 2019, for known reasons. He wanted to present an IT project to the IMM through me. As soon as I saw how amateur and how expensive his project was, we cut off all communication with him. For this reason, in the message he sent me years after that date, he already says, 'Even though we don't know each other very well.'"

Sharing his predictions regarding the political landscape, Özkan said that despite the uncertainty of the election date, he has a clear opinion about the outcome.

Recalling the "tsunami" analogy he made in the 2024 local elections, he argued that a greater political change is approaching:

"It is unclear when the elections will be held in Turkey, but the result of the election is clear. The ruling party and the People's Alliance are working together to help bring about a stronger CHP government. I had tweeted while the ballot boxes were closing and the counting had not yet begun in the March 31, 2024 local elections, and I said 'Tsunami,' not because I had the results in my hand, but because I guessed what was coming. That is what happened, and the map of Turkey turned bright red.

"A GOVERNMENT OF AT LEAST 20 YEARS IS COMING"

The social earthquake on March 31, 2024, was perhaps a magnitude of 6, maybe 6.5. Now it will be at least 8. It may seem too optimistic to you, but as a communicator who has analyzed every election in the history of the Republic with its causes and consequences many times, my prediction is that a government of at least 20 years is coming. This new tsunami wave will heal the country."

While arguing that a similar wave of change will be experienced more strongly than international examples, Özkan suggested that large segments outside the current political and bureaucratic structure will benefit from this. He also stated that current policies should be reversed regarding the ruling front.

Finally, conveying a direct message to the public, Özkan stated that the approaching process should create hope, not fear, and used the following expressions:

"We will see a stronger tsunami wave than what we saw in the TRNC and Hungary. Everyone will win, except for a small political and bureaucratic elite who are the representatives of the current establishment.

If I were in the place of the ruling components, I would do the opposite of everything I have done since March 19 and soften the wavelength of the incoming tsunami wave. Take it from me.

Through you, I would like to say this to all your readers: Let no one be afraid of this incoming tsunami wave. This tsunami wave will disperse the darkness that covers the horizon of the country and will bring truth, law, justice, and freedom. It will break down the walls of fear and rebuild the state with its institutions from scratch. This country will once again lock onto the goal of being a happy country in the race of civilization. This is the truth that history whispers to us."
