Negligence leads to the death of an 11-year-old child
In Adıyaman, electrical cables that were not disconnected and were left exposed caused the death of an 11-year-old child.
In the Mara neighborhood of Adıyaman's city center, on 1312 Street, 11-year-old Melik İsteyfi, a Syrian national, was passing by the rubble of a house demolished as part of an urban transformation project when he came into contact with exposed electrical cables belonging to the AKEDAŞ distribution company that had not been disconnected.
The child was suddenly electrocuted and collapsed to the ground.
Citizens who noticed the child lying motionless after the electric shock reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center.
Upon arrival at the scene, medical teams determined that the young child had died.
Police teams, who later arrived at the scene, conducted an examination of the child's body after personnel from the AKEDAŞ Electricity Distribution Company, who were called to the scene, cut off the power supply.
The young child's body was taken to the Adıyaman Training and Research Hospital morgue following the examinations.
