The trial regarding the murder of former Ülkü Ocakları Chairman Sinan Ateş, who was killed in Ankara, continues to remain on the agenda.

While the fifth hearing of the 22-defendant case is set to be held today, Gazete Pencere columnist Nuray Babacan shared new details reflected from government circles regarding the Ayşe Ateş-Erdoğan meeting in her column.

"The People's Alliance is going through a very important test. There is so much conflicting information circulating regarding facts, justice, emotions, and necessities. The agenda item where this contradiction is felt most deeply is the Sinan Ateş case. The atmosphere that prevailed in the courtroom after a meeting that caused President Tayyip Erdoğan and the Minister of Justice to shed tears created serious confusion in the corridors.

Developments regarding the Sinan Ateş murder, which have been debated for weeks, were a topic of political discussion even before the hearing began. It was being said that the stance of the Ministry of Justice and the Presidency regarding the court panel making a decision based on evidence and doing what is necessary had been conveyed. It was alleged that the President and the Minister of Justice came together before the trial and put the issue on the table.

Party officials were saying that Erdoğan wanted the matter to be 'pursued to the end' so that the truth could emerge. A more significant detail was that when the President received Ayşe Ateş and her daughters at the palace, the young girl's words moved those present, especially Erdoğan, to tears."
