New development in asset controversy: Allegations that those who queried Akın Gürlek's land registry records have been identified!
As the controversy regarding Akın Gürlek's assets continues, it has been claimed that those who queried his land registry records have been identified. Following Gürlek's statement that he only owns 4 properties, it is alleged that legal action may be taken against public officials who checked the records from different directorates and on a periodic basis.
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made striking allegations regarding the assets of Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek during a press conference held at his party's headquarters yesterday (March 17).
Claiming that Gürlek has 12 properties registered to his name with a value of 325 million TL, Özel also alleged that the value of 4 previously sold properties amounted to 126 million TL.
Özel argued that Gürlek has a total fortune of 452 million TL, stating that this amount cannot be explained by the salary of a public official. Özel further stated that when calculated based on the salary of an Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor, the wealth in question is equivalent to approximately 190 years of income.
While Gürlek stated that the land registry documents shared by Özel do not reflect the truth, the CHP has filed a criminal complaint against Gürlek.
Following the asset controversy that has dominated the agenda, Gürlek stated in a statement today that the number of properties registered to his name is 4, and claimed that the goal of CHP leader Özel is to overshadow the IMM (Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality) case.
After Gürlek announced that he only had 4 properties registered to his name and shared the land registry records with the public, it was alleged that an investigation has been launched into those who researched the information in question.
According to a report by Halk TV, it was determined that the land registry records were queried through different directorates during the period when Gürlek served as the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor.
Furthermore, it was stated that some public officials who checked the records at regular intervals have been identified, and that legal proceedings could be initiated against these individuals.
