New development in CHP convention case: Kılıçdaroğlu to be brought by force if he does not appear as a 'witness'

In the CHP convention case involving 12 defendants, including CHP's presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, the Ankara 26th Criminal Court of First Instance has issued a decision of lack of jurisdiction. The case file has been sent to the High Criminal Court on the grounds that the alleged crime could constitute "bribery." The court requested that former CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who is listed as a victim in the case, be heard as a witness; the ruling noted that the authority to "bring by force" in the event of his non-appearance lies with the High Criminal Court.

New development in CHP convention case: Kılıçdaroğlu to be brought by force if he does not appear as a 'witness'

The Ankara 26th Criminal Court of First Instance has issued a decision of lack of jurisdiction in the CHP convention case involving 12 defendants, including Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. The court ruled that the case file be sent to the High Criminal Court.

The decision stated that it must be evaluated whether the allegations subject to the trial constitute the crime of "bribery." In this context, it was concluded that the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Criminal Court, taking into account the possibility that the legal classification of the crime could be more severe.

The court also pointed out that the statements of former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who is in the position of a victim in the case, could be essential to the merits of the case. The judge, stating that Kılıçdaroğlu should be summoned to the hearing as a witness, also wrote in the decision that the authority to "bring him by force" in the event of his non-appearance rests with the High Criminal Court.

Journalist Alican Uludağ announced the development to the public.
