New development in the armed attack investigation against Fethiye Mayor
Six people detained in connection with the armed attack on Fethiye Mayor Alim Karaca in front of his home have been arrested.
Within the scope of the investigation launched following the armed attack on Mayor Alim Karaca in the Fethiye district of Muğla, six suspects alleged to have carried out and assisted in the attack have been arrested and sent to prison. The individuals determined to have links to the incident were referred to the Fethiye Courthouse in the morning hours following their processing at the police station.
Following their interrogation by the prosecutor's office, the suspects were sent to prison by the duty magistrate's court.
In the incident that occurred on May 23, an armed attack was carried out by a masked suspect in front of Alim Karaca's home in the Akarca neighborhood, and the mayor was wounded in the leg. Following the attack, Karaca was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Within the scope of the investigation, teams from the Muğla Police Department's Intelligence and Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime branches apprehended a total of six suspects, including the attacker, in a short time. While other suspects alleged to have facilitated the escape of the perpetrators were also detained, the pistol used in the incident, which had no serial number, and the attacker's clothing were found in a vacant lot in the Karaçulha neighborhood during searches.
