New development in the Dilan Polat case
Following the acceptance of the indictment in the case against Dilan Polat and Engin Polat, a monthly detention review was conducted for the defendants in custody. The court ruled that the 5 detained defendants, including Dilan and Engin Polat, will remain in custody.
The latest application for the release of 5 detained defendants, including Dilan and Engin Polat, who are facing up to 40 years in prison on charges of money laundering, has been rejected.
DECISION MADE TO CONTINUE DETENTION
The Anatolian 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance, which reviewed the detention status, ruled that the 5 defendants, including Dilan and Engin Polat, should remain in custody, citing the suspicion of evidence tampering, the risk of fleeing abroad, and the fact that the case file is not yet complete, which would make release insufficient. The defendants will appear before the judge for the first time on September 4-5-6.
