New development in the Gülistan Doku case: Detained suspect applies to become a whistleblower

A significant turning point has been reached in the investigation into the disappearance of Munzur University student Gülistan Doku, a case that has remained on Turkey's agenda for a long time. Six years later, 2 people have been arrested in the investigation, and a decision has been made to impose judicial control on 2 others.

It was stated that one of the suspects is former police officer Gökhan Ertok, who was arrested for "destroying evidence," while Erdoğan Elaldı, a former employee of the Provincial Special Administration who was determined to be among the last people to see Doku as a result of the data obtained, was sent to prison for the crime of "intentional killing."

In addition, Savaş Gültürk and Süleyman Önal, who were responsible for camera security at Munzur University, were released under judicial control as part of the investigation.

It was reported that Ertok, the dismissed police officer currently in prison, has applied to the authorities to request to become a whistleblower under the scope of effective remorse. Whether this request will change the course of the investigation will become clear in the coming days.
