New development in the operation against Manavgat Municipality
While 6 suspects detained in the 'bribery' investigation launched against Manavgat Municipality in recent days were arrested by the court yesterday, other suspects, including Manavgat Mayor Niyazi Nefi Kara, were referred to the courthouse today.
The operation, which began on July 4 when Deputy Mayor M. E.T. was caught red-handed receiving a 110 thousand euro bribe inside a baklava box at Manavgat Municipality, resulted in the detention of numerous individuals, including Manavgat Mayor Niyazi Nefi Kara. Following their procedures at the police station, Mehmet T. and businessmen Şükrü I., Mesut K., İlker G., Mehmet Ali F., and Kemal T. were referred to the Manavgat Courthouse yesterday, where all 6 were arrested after their statements were taken by the prosecutor and sent to prison.
25 PEOPLE REFERRED TO THE COURTHOUSE
On the other hand, additional detentions were made regarding the incident yesterday evening. This morning, 25 people, including Manavgat Mayor Niyazi Nefi Kara, who had been in custody and under questioning at the Antalya Police Department for 4 days, were brought to the Manavgat Courthouse by bus. A large number of party members, including CHP Antalya Provincial Chair Nail Kamacı and CHP Antalya MPs Sururi Çorabatır and Aliye Coşar, as well as municipal employees and relatives of the suspects, continue to wait in front of the Manavgat Courthouse.
