New development in the Sarallar case: Fugitive organization leader Cem Esmer captured

The trial of 169 defendants accused of being part of the organized crime group known publicly as the 'Sarallar,' led by İlyas Saral—also known as Alaattin Saral—in Istanbul, continued for 5 days at the Istanbul 17th High Criminal Court. Five defendants not in custody and defense attorneys were present at the hearing.

ARREST WARRANT MAY BE ISSUED FOR İLYAS SARAL

Announcing its interim decision during the hearing, the court decided to grant time to the lawyers of defendant İlyas Saral to bring him to the next session, noting that if he is not produced, the court will consider issuing an arrest warrant.

REPORTED THAT CEM ESMER HAS BEEN CAPTURED

The panel ruled for the issuance of a red notice form for defendant Cem Esmer, citing reports that he was located in Germany and captured within the scope of the investigation, and also ordered the issuance of a red notice form for defendant Ozan Murat Yılmaz.

FINAL OPINION TO BE PREPARED

The panel ruled to lift the judicial control measures for the defendants whose defenses have already been taken, and adjourned the hearing with the instruction that the file be sent to the Public Prosecutor for their final opinion once all deficiencies are resolved.
