New development in the 'sword oath' investigation: Three commanders face dismissal from the TSK

Due to the 'sword oath' ceremony held at the Military Academy graduation, the dismissal of five newly graduated lieutenants, as well as the acting regiment commander, the battalion commander, and the company commander, from the TSK (Turkish Armed Forces) has been requested.

The investigation, launched following the lieutenants' sword oath and their chanting of "We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal" on August 30 Victory Day, is deepening.

Earlier today, CHP Deputy Chairman Yankı Bağcıoğlu announced that three more lieutenants had been referred to disciplinary action in the Military Academy investigation. It has now emerged that the number of soldiers referred to disciplinary action with a request for dismissal has risen to 8.

3 COMMANDERS ARE AMONG THEM

According to information obtained by journalist Barış Terkoğlu from the lieutenants' lawyers, it has been revealed that the number of soldiers referred to disciplinary action within the scope of the investigation is 8.

It is alleged that 3 commanders are among the soldiers referred to disciplinary action, and that these commanders are the Regiment, Battalion, and Company commanders.

It was learned that in addition to Ebru Eroğlu and İzzet Talip Akarsu, notifications were also sent to Serhat Gündar and Deniz Demirtaş among the soldiers referred to disciplinary action.

"THEY ASKED FOR PERMISSION TO READ THE OLD OATH TEXT"

tv100 columnist Fuat Uğur shared information he stated he received from the Ministry of National Defense regarding the incident in question.

Uğur put forward the following claim:

"These lieutenants, led by Ebru Eroğlu, gathered before the graduation ceremony and went to their school commanders, saying, 'We want to read the old oath text at the graduation ceremony.'

The school commanders replied, 'No, this is not possible, you should not do this.' The lieutenants went to their school commanders and repeated their request 7 times. When they received a 'no' every time, they said, 'Then we will hold an alternative oath ceremony.' Those who organized it were Ebru Eroğlu and 5 other friends, no more.

But when I asked why nearly 300 new graduates participated in that alternative oath ceremony, I received the answer: 'Because they made an announcement, and those lieutenants went and participated excitedly, thinking something was happening. They didn't know why they were going. They already stated this to the investigation committee.'

‘There is also an investigation into them; because even though they had this information, they did not take precautions. They could have prevented that chaos on the field and stopped this controversy, but they did not,’ were the expressions used.”
