New development in white meat investigation

The 29 suspects detained in an operation conducted across 12 provinces, centered in Istanbul, regarding allegations of anti-competitive practices in the chicken meat sector, have been released by the court under judicial control measures, including a travel ban.

New development in white meat investigation

Within the scope of the investigation coordinated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, certain companies operating in the chicken meat sector were placed under scrutiny. Teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Financial Crimes Investigation Branch conducted examinations regarding the activities of companies in the sector.

As part of the investigation, information and documents obtained from the Competition Board's decisions and the Ministry of Trade were evaluated.

It was stated that, based on the examinations, it was assessed that some suspects had directly or indirectly obstructed the competitive environment in the market. In line with the findings obtained, judicial proceedings were initiated against the suspects.

SIMULTANEOUS OPERATION IN 12 PROVINCES

Taking action within the scope of the investigation, teams organized a large-scale operation centered in Istanbul on June 12.

Simultaneous raids were carried out at designated addresses in Istanbul, as well as in Balıkesir, Bolu, Ankara, Uşak, Bursa, İzmir, Samsun, Kocaeli, Manisa, Gaziantep, Sakarya, and Muğla.

A total of 29 suspects were detained during the operations. It was learned that the investigation and inquiry procedures initiated against the suspects are ongoing.

JUDICIAL CONTROL DECISION FROM THE COURT

The 29 suspects, who were referred to the courthouse after the completion of their procedures at the police station, were questioned by the court.

The court decided to release all of the suspects under judicial control measures, specifically a "travel ban."
