New evidence regarding the IMM 'case exchange' scandal brought to light by Özel! 4.5 million dollars demanded for release

CHP leader Özgür Özel's claims at a rally held in Tuzla last Wednesday, alleging that certain lawyers associated with prosecutors had established an 'IMM case exchange', continue to resonate. Özel had stated that he possessed concrete evidence. New information supporting these claims is emerging. Among the allegations is that 4.5 million dollars was demanded from a family in exchange for a release.

THERE ARE VOICE RECORDINGS AND CORRESPONDENCE

According to DW Turkish, citing CHP sources, it is stated that the apprehended Lawyer Mehmet Yıldırım communicated with families and that one family recorded this audio. The report included the following statements:

“A family recorded a 40-minute conversation and will file a complaint with the prosecutor's office. Furthermore, there is also WhatsApp correspondence with the prosecutor involved in the allegations. The prosecutor in question requested that testimony be given against İmamoğlu. The lawyer conveyed both this request for testimony and the demand for a 4.5 million dollar payment to the family. It is alleged that other families are in similar situations. The lawyer is the attorney for some informants, and these individuals have been released.”

The report stated that the CHP will submit the evidence to both the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) and the Union of Turkish Bar Associations, and that if no action is taken, the documents will be shared with the public.

HE TURNED OUT TO BE THE LAWYER FOR THE DETAINED FORMER IMM DIRECTOR

Lawyer Yıldırım is also the attorney for former IMM Information Technology Director Naim Erol Özgüner, who consented to a search of his home and was subsequently released. A phone allegedly belonging to İmamoğlu had been found in Özgüner's home. While Özgüner said, “I hid it in the shock of the event,” IMM Chief of Staff Kadriye Kasapoğlu was subsequently arrested.

CHP leader Özel had expressed the following regarding the 'IMM case exchange' at the Tuzla rally:

“I am announcing to Turkey that we have evidence that a gang has created an 'IMM Case Exchange,' with some lawyers going to meet with individuals and saying, 'The prosecutor sent me. I will be your lawyer. You will give this testimony. You will say these things. And you will pay this much money.' Tomorrow, we will provide the HSK with the date, day, time, and bank receipts; I will submit the transcript of the lawyer's WhatsApp records to the HSK!”
