New footage of the armed attack in Mersin has emerged

In armed attacks carried out at different locations in Mersin throughout the day, 6 people lost their lives and 8 people were injured. A large-scale operation has been launched to capture the suspect, who fled following the incidents.

It was stated that 37-year-old Metin Ö. went to the butcher shop and restaurant in the Kadelli neighborhood of Tarsus district, where he had worked about a year ago, and opened fire with a handgun. Business owner Sabri Pan and employee Ahmet Ercan lost their lives in the attack.

ATTACK ON A TRUCK DRIVER AT A GAS STATION

It was reported that the suspect, who allegedly left the scene in a white car with license plate 01 B 9171, opened fire on truck driver Gökay Selfioğlu at a gas station in the Yeniköy neighborhood, and that Selfioğlu died at the scene.

It was stated that the suspect later shot his ex-wife, Arzu Özden, in the Darıpınarı neighborhood of Çamlıyayla district, and that Abdullah Koca lost his life after his motorcycle rolled into a ditch in the Yeniköy neighborhood.

It was also learned that Yusuf Oktay, who was reported to be working as a shepherd in the Karakütük neighborhood, lost his life during the attacks.

8 PEOPLE INJURED

It was reported that 8 people along the route were also injured during the attacks. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals, primarily Tarsus State Hospital, for treatment.

While extensive security measures have been taken in the region following the incidents, it was stated that gendarmerie teams have launched a helicopter-supported operation to capture the suspect. The car used by the suspect was found in the rural area of the Karakütük neighborhood, and it is believed that the suspect may have fled into the wooded area.

MOMENTS OF THE ATTACK CAUGHT ON CAMERA

Meanwhile, new security camera footage regarding the incidents has emerged. The footage from the restaurant shows the moments when the suspect opened fire in succession with the handgun in his hand.

In the footage from the gas station, it was seen that the suspect arrived at the station by car and the moments he opened fire on the driver Gökay Selfioğlu, who was in front of his truck, were reflected on camera.
