New Kavala commentary from Selvi: What will change in the AKP after Kızılcahamam?

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has concluded the Kızılcahamam camp.

Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi shared his impressions following the camp. 

CHANGE FOR THE SAKE OF CHANGE IS NOT ENOUGH

Stating that the change in the AKP will be radical, Selvi said, "The conclusion I draw from President Erdoğan's meetings is that Erdoğan is looking at the problem in a very fundamental way. He sees the need for change, but he is not limiting this to a reshuffling of seats in the cabinet and the party. He is thinking of grounding this change in a philosophy, in a perspective. That is why it is said that he is contemplating a more fundamental 'paradigm shift.' Change for the sake of change is not enough."

"KAVALA AND GEZI MAY BE NEXT"

Selvi also drew attention to Erdoğan's "democracy" rhetoric and said the following:

"In fact, one could say that the AK Party is searching for what it has lost within its own values... It is a party named Justice and Development. Its reference is within itself. Justice for all, development for all, freedoms for all. Erdoğan drew the framework by saying, 'Turkey's future lies in more democracy and more freedom.' The pardoning of retired generals convicted in the February 28 case was the first link in this chain. Allowing the Saturday Mothers to hold demonstrations in Taksim after 5.5 years was the second link.

Osman Kavala and those convicted due to Gezi may be next in line. Then, a new politics will be built upon this foundation."
