Teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Traffic Inspection Branch launched an investigation into footage of a traffic dispute shared on social media. The identities of the drivers in the footage, which was examined as part of virtual patrol activities, were determined in a short time.

Research revealed that the individuals in the footage were A.C. and Y.K. It was determined that the incident took place in the Arnavutköy district of Istanbul.

FINE EXCEEDING 602 THOUSAND TL

During the investigation, the drivers were processed for various violations under the Highway Traffic Law No. 2918.

The violations in question included "persistently following another vehicle in traffic for the purpose of assault or getting out of the vehicle for this purpose," "operating a motor vehicle without being a driver," "stopping," and "allowing persons without a driver's license to operate a motor vehicle."

In this context, a total administrative fine of 602 thousand 492 TL was imposed on the two drivers.

VEHICLES BANNED FROM TRAFFIC

In accordance with the actions taken, the vehicles were banned from traffic for 60 days, and the drivers' licenses were confiscated for 60 days.

A.C. and Y.K., who were taken into custody by police teams, were taken to the police station for judicial proceedings. The two suspects, who were referred to the court after their procedures, were arrested and sent to prison.

NEW TRAFFIC FINES HAD ENTERED INTO FORCE

On the other hand, the law amending the Highway Traffic Law, which includes regulations for increasing traffic fines, had been published in the Official Gazette and entered into force.

With the regulation, penalties for dangerous and aggressive behavior in traffic were significantly increased. Accordingly, it was decided to impose an administrative fine of 180 thousand TL on drivers who persistently follow another vehicle in traffic for the purpose of assault or get out of the vehicle for this purpose. It was stipulated that the driver's licenses of these drivers would be confiscated for 60 days and their vehicles would be banned from traffic for 30 days.

Within the scope of the new regulation, the fine for driving without a license was also increased to 40 thousand TL, and it was ruled that administrative fines would be imposed on vehicle owners who allow persons without a driver's license to drive.
